Don't Walk Away i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between high school sweethearts Rhett and Ashton. Rhett left after high school graduation without a word to join the navy and broke Ashton's heart. Ashton moved to New York and went to school for nursing. When Ashton faced a tragedy at work, she returned home and started to work at the hospital that Rhett's mother ran. Rhett has never returned home since he left but his commander offered him a promotion training the SEALs and forced Rhett to take a month away to think about it. Rhett decided it was time to return home. When Rhett went to the hospital to surprise his mother, he saw Ashton and wanted to talk to her. Rhett asked her to dinner and wouldn't let her refuse. Asjton was on vacation for the week and Rhett wanted to spend all the time with her winning her back. Ashton still had feelings for Rhett, but she was scared he would leave again and she didn't know if her heart would survive. I liked this story and i liked Rhett. He wanted to be with Ashton and knew she still loved him. He was determined to win her back Good one.Great Romance Read I really enjoyed this second chance short story romance. The characters are interesting, well-developed, and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written, with a happily ever after. If you like military romances, you will enjoy this book. In addition to receiving an arc, I purchased the book for my collection.Second Chances A second chance romance between a military man, Rhett, who walked away from everyone on graduation night and joined the Navy. He walked away from friends, his mom and his love, Ashton. Ashton is back in town working with Rhett’s mom in her hospital, leaving N.Y. after a tragic incident. She happens to run into Rhett when he shows up to surprise his mom at the hospital and try as she might, she can’t ignore Rhett. Rhett isn’t giving up, he wants Ashton and is persistent in his pursuit..will she give in.A good short steamy read that cuts to the chase but I would have liked to have seen more remorse from Rhett. He was too arrogant throughout most of the read and even though he left for reasons he thought were justified, I would have liked to have seen him take more responsibility for everything he left behind. He also didn’t seem like he missed Ashton, or thought about her while away, gave her a second thought or regretted leaving. I did enjoy the fast paced set of the read and the little drama involved as well as how both matured and found something both were great in.*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
